Who knows better?

“Magisms”….What are they? To you and other readers, it may not mean much. To me, however it means a great deal. Ever since I was a teenager, I would jot down things that came to me. I still collect such thoughts and write them. They were/are pearls of wisdom, of philosophy, of guidance that made great deal of sense at the time and still do. I still write down these “Magisms” and have started a book that I am working on for some time now (title not to be revealed yet).

I have a slew of these “Magisms;” however, when writing about them, beyond the phrase I came up with, I will not write a new one for at least two-three weeks. This way, my interpretation and explanations do not get watered down or rushed. I will take my time with this endeavor. My thoughts emerge and evolve on their own schedule.

Can poetry be far behind? And yes, there was that too. Not sharing those just yet. Anyhow, that is an article for another day.

I dissect these “Magisms” and expound upon them in order to give clarity and explanation to the thoughts. I will add one such “Magism” here, so you have an idea of my attempts at philosophical expertise. So here we go…Just a tease: This came more recently beyond my teen years or young adulthood.

The Witching Hours of 0130-0430 are the Time(s) When Nothing Good Can Happen; When No phone Calls are Good

There are some chapters in this book that are not necessarily philosophical or even spiritually enlightening. Rather, they will be observations that run the gamut anywhere from “Wow! I did not know that” to “Makes a lot of sense.” This chapter may be more the latter and less the former. Still, it should be brought up, if for no other reason than to hammer home something that is very obvious and yet, probably not thought of “pre”-incident.

I can tell you that by and large the only people out on the streets (apart from entertainment areas) are usually, cops, criminals, and cabbies. In reality, people usually reach their homes for a date with slumber by 0130 hours. Others, needing to start a shift by before the sun rises, usually hit the road shortly after 0430. 0130-0430 is one of eight three-hour

time periods during the course of a 24-hour day. Granted, the pressing issues generally run from sundown to sun rise; Six to six, perhaps? Ok. Then 0130-0430 represents one of four, three-hour time frames.

Without a doubt, this three-hour period, more so than any other three-hour time frame is the time when quiet is the quietest; when dark is the darkest, when turmoil and crisis is the most tumultuous. The proof in the pudding is that any phone call that finds you in this 180-minute segment, most likely will never be good. Similarly, any contact you make with anyone, minus a 24-hour convenience store, by and large will not be good either because you are not seeking out anyone at this time. So why are they seeking you out.

If we can establish that this three-hour block can be problematic as I described above, then we most also move to safeguard against it. Outside the house, during this time, we must be physically and mentally on guard. Inside the house, we must stay as strong as we can, mentally as we sleep; meaning we must prepare for any and all eventualities.

We can’t avoid this witching hour(s). But by rolling with the proverbial punch, we may be able to lessen the power behind the shot. 0130-0430 will be here like clockwork each and every day. It is only 12 ½% of the day, and most of us miss it, but it never misses us.
