I had to find work that allowed me to be awake and at home during these hours and everyone would ask, “Why are you up at that hour?” The reason: night watch. Those are the only hours my guard dog won’t let me know someone is on my porch. 🤣
I’ve yet to receive a good phone call at the time. Never once. I can think of only a few arenas where even positive contact happens at that time in “the wild (e.g. someone coming off shift and putting in road work).
As a barbecue guy and during that timeframe, I still find myself blissfully accompanied by black coffee and whatever that night’s weather might be in a chair tending coals and embers of burning oak splits. That’s at my home though. Confined. Relegated to my plot. Outside that gate is different though.
I was a chaplain and calls at that time were always the ones that made get out and drive to places where people were needing support.
